About the Positive Directions program
Positive Directions is a voluntary, wraparound support program for youth aged 11 to 18 living in Airdrie who are experiencing significant risk factors related to bullying, violence, criminal involvement, school disengagement, or other complex social and behavioural challenges. The program was developed to strengthen protective factors, reduce risk, and connect youth with the supports they need to make positive, healthy choices.

Each youth works collaboratively with a Positive Directions Worker and an RCMP member to identify personal goals, develop skills, access community resources, and build positive relationships with trusted adults and community supports. Services are individualized and may include mentorship, goal setting, referrals to community services, family support, school collaboration, employment readiness, life skills development, and coordinated case planning with partner agencies.

Because the program provides intensive, individualized support, capacity is intentionally limited. Referrals are reviewed to ensure the program is the best fit for each youth and that available spaces are prioritized for those with the greatest level of need.

Before you submit a referral please ensure that:
  • The youth lives in or regularly attends school in the Airdrie area.
  • The youth is between the ages of 11-18
  • The youth (and parent/caregiver, where appropriate) has been informed about the referral.
  • You believe the youth would benefit from ongoing, individualized support rather than a single referral to another community service.
